A creative potential has always been relevant for business leaders. After all, to create a company, a product, or a service you have to be creative enough to solve the array of questions that come up along the way. But now, more than just business leaders are looking for innovative ways to successfully navigate the rapidly changing world. Creativity is quickly becoming a survival skill essential for people from all walks of life, not just entrepreneurs and artists.
There are countless ways people claim you can hack into your creative potential, but most mistake the forest for the trees and neglect the foundation of meaningful and authentic creativity, which is to connect with your own creative source through insights and intuition. But what really is intuition and what role does play in our ability to be creative and innovative in a meaningful way.
Where does your creative potential come from?
Creativity is a skill that developed in Homo sapiens during the Cognitive Revolution. According to Yuval Noah Harari, while their ancestors and other animals could communicate something as simple as “Beware! A lion. Homo sapiens acquired the ability to say: The lion is the guardian spirit of the tribe. This ability to talk about fiction is the most unique feature of the sapiens’ language,” concludes the author and historian.
Researchers at the University of Granada, in southern Spain, published a study in the journal Nature Molecular Psychiatry in which they unraveled a series of genes with “a key role in the evolution of creativity, self-awareness and cooperative behavior“. In other words, it’s believed that creativity has been common to man for over 70,000 years.
How to master your creative potential?
However, many thousands of years have passed, and still today we have yet to master this fleeting skill that has become more evidently relevant for thriving in modern life. “Having a creative mindset about your business or the company you work for can be the difference between success and failure in these volatile times,” said Josh Felber, Board Member at Forbes.
Start being present in the moment
To develop meaningful creativity, we introduce a framework that contemplates the nuances of this journey, starting with a fundamental factors: being present in the moment, or having your full attention on what you are doing. To be present, we must be intentionally attentive to the stimuli you receive from the environment, from other people, and silence distorting preconceptions.
Beyond focus
In addition to a focused and present mind, we need to understand how our mental and emotional states affect our creative competence and our ability to have insights. That’s why we designed a Creativity Journey, in which you can access proven tools to activate your creativity consistently, not in sporatic hiccups coupled with long and unpredictable intervals.
Overcome your social paradigms and mental models
The next steps of this journey are to overcome the social paradigms and mental models that inhibit your perception of new solutions. First, you’ll learn to create new habits that deconstruct social paradigms, and then you’ll learn to apply time-tested tools to be more disruptive and receptive to learning from other people’s knowledge and experience.
Build a creativity engine
To effectively turn on your creativity engine, you’ll need to stimulate your intuition by asking the right questions and building a creativity matrix. Intuitive leaders can quickly filter through the noise to identify the signal. This will enable you to quickly and consistently trigger your most authentic, meaningful and impactful creative mode.
Make room for igniting your intuition
The last stage of your Creativity Journey is understanding the power of creative leisure, a concept coined by the Italian author with a book of the same name, Domenico De Masi. You’ll learn why it’s so important to make room for igniting your intuition, break free from the habits that cause you to lose focus and clarity, and foster the hyper-productive state of being present.
We love the Creativity Journey because it develops creativity in an intentional and tangible way so you can extract your creative juices for a better life, as well as for building better products, services and innovative experiences.
