Nearly half of the USA population feels that COVID-19 pandemic harmed their mental health. Let’s be frank though, mental well-being wasn’t always considered a skill to be trained and developed for success.

We believe that through increasing an individual’s potential, chronic stress can be avoided and challenges can be overcome. This is a common strategy adopted by high-performance athletes.
Companies where face-to-face work was standard pre-pandemic felt more the effects of distancing on the productivity of their teams. They still noticed the need to retrain many of their employees. But we are not talking about technical or digital skills. We refer to power skills. These are the fundamental skills for any executive or entrepreneur looking to thrive in the current scenario.
75% of employees believe that workers have more on-the-job stress than a generation ago. For this reason, many employers complain about the unproductivity of their employees more than ever. This, in turn, impacts the business operation and the bottom line: revenue.

It is an undeniable fact that the world is going through a period of accelerated geopolitical and macroeconomic transformation, as evidenced by Ray Dalio in his book The Changing World Order. These changes are even more visible in the world of technology, wherein artificial intelligence (AI) continues to be one of the main disruptors, responsible for introducing a high level of uncertainty and instability. We know that many of today’s professions will cease to exist and be replaced by algorithms. Imagine how this will feel, as it comes to pass.
A September 2021 study by Ryerson University of Toronto, Canada, concluded that the DeRose Meditation methodology promotes positive change in the lives of its practitioners by increasing their physical and mental well-being, self-confidence, relationships and productivity.
Recently, about 30 of us participated in a group detox; apologies to anyone who disagrees, but I would say that it was a worthwhile experience! Along the way, there was some humor, some headaches, some aches, and some pains, but together, we got through it. This is an opportunity to reflect on why we use this technique, what it is and how it works at DeRose Meditation. I hope that if you could not participate, you may find this interesting.
A strong community is one of our pillars.
A community can be a complex and abstract concept. To me, community is an emotional experience. I often hear our members say, “I feel I belong here”; “when I come here I feel at home”; “I feel I can trust you”; “I feel supported”; “I feel relaxed”; “I feel so good after a session,” and so on. It’s all about the feeling.
Do you know the difference between Mindfulness and Meditation? Are they the same?
As a part of my series about the things we can do to develop serenity and support each other during anxious times, I had the pleasure of interviewing John Conway Chisenhall, the Co-Founder of DeRose Meditation.
Chisenhall opened the first certified DeRose Method entity in the United States and is a sought-after leader in the field of meditation and mindfulness. Chisenhall has been teaching the DeRose Method since 2007, initially in Argentina and now New York City.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) has listed 10 skills for the future based on analysis of information gathered from 9 sectors, including 15 of the largest economies in the world and hundreds of executives. These 10 skills are what the market will demand from professionals:
Do you feel that time flies? That the years have been passing even faster? That you are continually working but have not yet achieved what you set out to achieve?
The first thing came to my mind when I was oblied to work from home was a quote from Professor DeRose talking about opportunities:
“Obstacles and frustration are part of life. Living is the art of overcoming them.”
Meditation is not about controlling your thoughts; it’s about not letting your thoughts control you. It is training for the mind, much like going to the gym is training for the body. Mind-wandering is a fact of the human condition. When we are trying to accomplish something, and our mind is somewhere else, we waste a lot of energy instead of focusing on the task at hand.
This vision of the world is possible when you have aspirations and dreams. Nothing is solely yours as much as your dreams. When you are nurturing your goals, aspirations, and dreams, you will always see a silver lining in the clouds. It is still important to cultivate your dreams even when we have difficult times like we now do with social distancing.
